LINDSEY WILHARM
A True Christian Conservative at Heart
Lindsey Wilharm believes that government should be limited and reduced in order to reduce corruption and increase efficiency. Government exists solely to protect our God given individual freedoms and serve the people in their righteous pursuits. Lindsey believes adhering to the original principles of the U.S. Constitution is essential to maintaining our individual freedoms. The rule of law is how society is able to preserve life, liberty, property, and carry out justice. It is the job of the government to assure the rule of law is practiced fairly and consistently. Additional checks and balances, as well as audits and investigations, should be carried out to ensure this is the case. The United States maintains peace through strength, and this is achieved through a well trained and equipped military. One of the biggest challenges America currently faces is blatant fiscal irresponsibility. Tax payers should not have to watch as their hard earned money is sent overseas and carelessly spent, while our own infrastructure crumbles, and the national debt increases astronomically. The fiscal deficit puts our nation's security at risk. Income tax was meant to be a temporary aid for our military, but it has become a global slush fund, often aiding the militaries and societies of potential adversaries. Our intelligence agencies need increased judicial oversight, financial audits, and asset transparency, as the scope of their corruption has become increasingly clear to the American people. It is critical that the United States creates secure and anonymous whistleblower channels in order to more easily weed out corruption in our government. Lindsey believes all taxes should be spent only on our citizens and military. It would be in our best interest to reconsider our involvement in NATO in order to regain our national sovereignty. This organization was created under drastically different social and economic conditions than we face today. As a global military superpower, the United States should have no legal obligation to engage in the conflicts of other countries. Agreements and intelligence sharing could be made on a case by case basis. The United States is a beacon of freedom and peace across the world, a position we are failing to uphold when being forced to engage in other nations conflicts. The United States is not the policemen or welfare lenders of the world. The government has increasingly restricted the free markets, creating unnecessary obstacles that prevent economic expansion. Free markets thrive when oversight is limited and hard work and self-sacrifice are rewarded. Hard work should always be highlighted as the path out of poverty. Welfare programs have become a breeding ground of corruption, becoming recklessly unregulated and all encompassing under the guise of empathy. We need to ensure the assistance is going only to the people who are truly desperately in need. Qualifications necessary to receive welfare should be reevaluated. The government should create other programs or incentives so people are more willing to help themselves. If we do not reverse the course of corruption within our government, the foundation of our constitutional republic will further crumble.
Lindsey's Christian faith is at the core of who she is, and the foundation upon which she makes all decisions. Christianity commands us to love one another, even our enemies. She believes the founding fathers based the most essential principles of our constitution on the foundation of Christian values. God asserts uniquely, and only, through the religion of Christianity that all of us, poor or rich, man or woman, jew or gentile, born or unborn, were created in the image of God. The other Abrahamic religions that are now a major influence in our government, do not share this same assertion. While Lindsey upholds that everyone should have the freedom of religion, it is evident that the greatest societies are grounded in Christian values. This is because Christianity is the only monotheistic faith that Love alone is the guiding principle. Lindsey believes it is an essential job of the government to protect all life, especially life within the womb. It is not the age, location, or conditions of one's life that give it value. Infants and children are the most deserving and requiring of government protection, and their wellbeing is the hope of society's future. Lindsey asserts that the government honoring, encouraging, and even incentivizing, marriage and childbearing will help maintain healthy communities, and secure the future strength of our country. Being able to have a family and own a home is the core of the American dream, a dream that every hard working American should be encouraged and able to achieve. Lindsey's Christian faith reminds her that trials and tribulations are part of God's design. We are not promised ease, equal resources, or abundance. Hardship is designed to help us seek our Creator. She detests socialism and believes faith and obedience to God, along with hard work, will provide each and every person their biological needs. In circumstances where people struggle to meet their needs, greater responsibility should be placed on religious institutions to assist the people. Faith in God, and participation in a religious community, will help those in need to heal the root causes of their poverty. As people continually turn away from relying on God and faith, they have become overwhelmingly reliant on the government instead. This has created an unhealthy, entitled, lazy, and morally corrupt society that is dangerously falling into the snares of socialism. Socialism is incompatible with religious liberty, it gives the state supremacy over the individual and rejects God as the ultimate authority of human rights. Lindsey continually sacrifices her own free will in order to dedicate herself to carry out the Will of God. She hopes to do this in U.S. Congress by upholding the constitution, highlighting the truths in God's written word, and by following the guidance of the Holy Spirit. She prays and hopes to restore the power of being One Nation Under God with Liberty and Justice for All.
